You drive up the dirt road, the sun beating down on your car. You look out your window and spot a sign that reads. Welcome To The Town Of Lake Placid. You raise both eyebrows and mutter something under your breath. You wonder why your parents sent you here anyway, this place wasn't going to make a whole difference anyway. You put your head back in and lean your arm out of the window. Lightly pushing the acceleration, you drive forward.
Lake Placid is a small town located in New York. Settled right in the middle, it's a cozy town. Not much happens, so rowdy high school students provide entertainment for themselves. That was, until the first death. It happened to a highschool freshmen, in the lake that the town was named after, Lake Placid. Most discarded it as a drowning accident, nothing to be overly concerned about. That was until the second death. The body was found again in Lake Placid, this time, it wasn't the whole body. It was another highschool student, a senior after a graduation party. Soon, two other freshmen were killed in Lake Placid. The town hid the fact from tourist, but it was still there, a problem hanging on their shoulders.
As a tradition, Freshmen are made to swim in the lake for one hour, as a sort of initiation. If they aren't going to swim, the students ridicule them in school. Most Freshmen just go for the swim, quite scared, but still not wanting to be ridiculed for the whole year. This initiation began right after the fourth death, something the seniors thought up of. No deaths have come from freshmen's yet, but there is always a possibility.
As another tradition, the seniors skinny dip in the lake the night before graduation and that night as well. The freshmen thought this up as a way to get even with the seniors. This also was after the death of the four teenagers. Most Seniors go skinny dipping and if they don't, they will probably be taunted through college, if they attend.
Can you fight the temptation to be apart of the crowd and go into the lake?
